TCHTA MEMBERS ENGAGE TRAVEL PARTNERS FOR VIRTUAL TURKS AND CAICOS CONFERENCE (TACC)

TCHTA President Delivers Opening Remarks at TACC 2021

Annually, members of the TCHTA proudly host and entertain travel partners in collaboration with the Turks & Caicos Tourist Board for the Turks and Caicos Conference (TACC). The conference aims to promote the destination and engage industry top sellers, airline representatives, and travel partners, with a large focus on our source markets.

This year, attendees experienced a hybrid event showcasing the exciting offerings of the destination to small in-person groups and to a wider group of registrants via an online portal.

TACC 2021 was a two-day event and began on May 5th with a welcoming ceremony at Amanyara Resort.  Here, our President, Mr. Trevor Musgrove, brought welcome remarks on behalf of the Turks & Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association. Musgrove expressed his praise for the Tourist Board’s ability to continue the event under challenging circumstances and pledged the TCHTA’s continued support and partnership.

TCHTA member Grace Bay Resorts would then take the attendees on a cultural experience with a display of dance, conch calling, mixology, and a showcase of the national costume of these beautiful by nature islands with a look into the significance of each island’s representation in the costume’s colours.

On day two, attendees were hosted by Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort Villages & Spa where they learned more about the Tourist Board’s “Rediscover Turks and Caicos” theme and were dazzled with the myriad of sister island experiences that are available to their guests and clients travelling to TCI.

The TACC closing event has historically been an exciting and much anticipated one for the travel partners. Though this year’s circumstances did not allow for the typical elaborate celebration, the team at The Shore Club ensured that, even virtually, the TACC closing ceremony was one to be envied.

The theme of this year’s closing – “Celebrating Turks & Caicos Culinary Excellence” – featured a red-carpet entrance of Turks and Caicos dignitaries; interviews with the coordinators of TCI’s top three culinary events: Caribbean Food & Wine Festival, Taste of Tapas, and the Chocolate Lover’s Expo; a Rake n Scrape ensemble; and a Gospel trio, all with the backdrop of an exceptional view of Long Bay Beach from one of The Shore Club’s exquisite villas. The highlight of the evening – a live cooking demo with two of TCI’s award-winning Chefs which allowed remote participation with the virtual attendees whose ingredients and recipes were shipped to them prior to the event.

Marketing Chairperson for the TCHTA, Ms. Karen Whitt, said “It is always an honour for our association to partner with the Tourist Board in this important annual event. We rely on our partners to share their knowledge and love for Turks and Caicos, and it is critical that we keep them engaged. They are TCI’s extended family, and we are especially pleased at a time like this to show them our appreciation for singing the praises of the destination and assisting us with selling the destination to the world. Our country and our people depend on it.”
