TCHTA ELECTS NEW BOARD MEMBERS FOR 2007

PROVIDENCIALES, Turks & Caicos Islands - February 21, 2007 - The Turks & Caicos Hotel Association (TCHTA) has a new leadership team in place to guide the organization's growth and development in 2007. At the annual general meeting held in late January, the membership elected the following board members, who will preside over the group for the current calendar year:

  • President: Butch Clare, General Manager, The Meridian Club on Pine Cay
  • Vice President: Gordon Lightbourne, Managing Director of St. Charles Resort North Caicos
  • Directors:
    • Andre Niederhauser, Partner and Managing Director of Caribbean Hospitality Concepts
    • Beverly Williams, General Manager of Le Vele Resort
    • Nikheel Advani, General Manager of the Grace Bay Club
    • Tom Lewis, Managing Director of Ocean Club Resorts
    • Stacy Cox, General Manager of Royal West Indies Resorts
    • Doug Parnell, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce
    • Caesar Campbell, Chief Executive Officer, TCHTA

"I'm excited about the coming year and expect it to be a time of great growth and exciting change," said Mr. Butch Clare, Chairman and President of the TCHTA. "The board of directors elected represents a good mix of professionals from a wide range of backgrounds, which also reflects the nationalities and interests of the tourists we attract. I'm looking forward to working with the group and am eager to receive suggestions and recommendations on how we can best achieve our objectives and make 2007 a banner year for the entire tourism sector."

Caesar Campbell, who continues to be the CEO of the association, said that he looks forward to working with Butch Clare this fiscal year: "I'm confident Butch will do a great job as president of the TCHTA and I'm excited to be working closely with him again. We worked together previously on the TCHTA's board and on the Turks and Caicos Tourist Board as co-directors. With Butch and the rest of the TCHTA directors, I'm confident our members will benefit from their collective leadership and experience."

One of the key roles of the board of directors of the TCHTA is to facilitate communication among members and provide a single voice to represent the best interests of hoteliers and businesses related to the hospitality industry.
